The 2023 China High-level Dialogue on Maritime and Commercial Arbitration held successfully

On 16 June, the 2023 China High-level Dialogue on Maritime and Commercial Arbitration was successfully held in Beijing. The Dialogue was hosted by the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), in cooperation with Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), Association of Chinese Lawyers in Europe (ACLE) and with the support and participation of 24 domestic and international institutions, including the International Commercial Dispute Prevention And Settlement Organization (ICDPASO), the Center for Chinese Law Studies of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), the Centro de Arbitraje y Mediación (CAM) Santiago, the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of Chile, the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC), the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and others.

Mr. Hongbin Ren, Chairman of CCPIT and Chairman of CMAC, said in his opening speech that China's arbitration is an indispensable and important part of the national governance system, and that CMAC, as a professional arbitration organisation featuring in the resolution of maritime disputes, is trusted by both Chinese and foreign parties, and the number of cases received has long ranked among the top in the world, and arbitral awards have been widely recognised and enforced around the globe. In addition, Mr. Ruihe Wang, Deputy Director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, P.R. China, Ms. Shumei Wang, Permanent Member (Vice-Minister Level) of the Supreme People's Court (SPC)'s Judicial Committee, and Mr. Zhenjiang Wang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, P.R.China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Dr. Liangdong Ke, Vice Chairman of CCPIT and Vice Chairman of CMAC, moderated the opening ceremony.

Dr. Bo Chen, Deputy Secretary General of CMAC, delivered a closing speech. The Dialogue was held both online and offline. About 200 participants attended offline and nearly 60,000 participants attended online.
