On 21 February 2017 local time in London, CHEN Bo, Vice President of the Court of Arbitration of CMAC, led a delegation of CMAC to visit the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). Mr. Clive Aston, Chairman of LMAA, warmly welcomed CHEN Bo and her entourage.

Vice President Chen Bo first thanked Mr. Aston for taking the invitation to participate in the International Maritime Arbitration Seminar held by CMAC in September last year and for his wonderful speech at the meeting. At the same time, she said that CMAC and LMAA signed a cooperation agreement in 2002. Since then, the two parties have maintained a good relationship and in-depth cooperation. It is hoped that both parties can deepen their cooperation in arbitrator training and mutual recommendation of arbitrators on the basis of existing cooperation. In particular, the LMAA has just issued a new arbitration. Rules, both parties can hold related activities or seminars. Mr. Aston warmly welcomed the visit of the CMAC delegation and expressed his full agreement with CHEN that the two parties should deepen all-round cooperation. Then, the two parties have conducted in-depth communication and exchanges on the differences between LMAA arbitration and pure ad hoc arbitration, as well as the relatively large shortcomings of the Chinese parties in London arbitration and other hot issues.

In the afternoon of the same day, the CMAC delegation also visited the UK P&I Club. Dr. Wu Chao, Legal Director of Thomas Miller Shipowners Mutual Insurance Services (Europe) Co., Ltd., the Directors of Underwriting Department and Claims Department and related staff received the CMAC delegation. Vice President CHEN Bo introduced the development status of China's maritime arbitration and the characteristics of the CMAC arbitration rules. The two parties conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on specific issues in arbitration procedures. Both parties agreed that with the vigorous development of China's economy, more and more Chinese shipowners will choose institutions in mainland China to resolve disputes, and CMAC will play a more important role in the field of international and domestic maritime dispute resolution. It is hoped that both parties will have opportunities for cooperation in the future to provide high-quality Chinese maritime arbitration services to members of the P&I Club.
